Its Sunday! 'bout to blow off....booooom!

Yeah dawgs, straight bangin' yo' face....

Enough son of a pastor from the burbs bollocks, its the moment we've been dreading all year - the MITP Final Exam...arse...

Just check out the exhilarating reading list:

How to kill brain cells 101

You knows I've been avidly scribing away in those....

Not too confident about this one, its worth 60% of the units credit!

Fortunately its open book, and I'm bringing in the model answers....

Safe.

return of the pawn

my psychiatrist has given me clearance to resume espousing my world-view, being of the opinion that no right minded citizen of any culture would pay any attention.

i agree of course :p

update - wtf happened the last x weeks?

heres the rundown (from what i can remember)

i 'finished' my dissertation ahead of schedule, actually meeting the deadline...still trying to avoid thinking about this one.

no more pointless lectures and mindless sycophancy to put up with. its true i rarely attended anyway, but the finality is nice.

first exam of four out of the way - advanced networking. a total joke - since a large a proportion of the course couldnt even design a simple vlsm subnet in last xmas' paper for 20marks, we had a 50mark question on it this time round, which Al went through in the revision lecture.

the above refers to IP addressing, the most fundemental principle of networking in the Internet age. first year students should know this.

whats the point of doing networking at all you brainless sheep!

and to top it off, i'll be marked down for using all 0's & 1's subnets! just because Al thinks its better practise! read rfc1878 for saladins sake!

still getting rage issues with house cleanliness

still far too easily distracted by drugs and alcohol

still not found a new house

ok rant over. but this uni crap has really been pissing me off.

on a lighter note, SOAD's new album is pretty cool, and they're playing the festivals this summer.

edit:
just noticed ink stains on me favourite jeans

wake up ash...

serves me right for being sat on my arse for 12hours.

bright eyes

oops, its been more than a month since i last posted!

i have just woken up, after a mighty eighteen hour sleep.
still feeling tired tho...
the explanation - working through night and day to finish our honeypot assignment!

i'm gonna go put the kettle on...

The Rage

Now my thumb hurts
Trust a video game to rile me up into The Rage, stupid bloody thing. There is little more infuriating to me than losing through no fault of my own. One blatantly well-exucuted tackle missed and I snapped - booted the table scattering two plates, a full pint of water, some empty glasses and several papers across the room.
They never saw it coming...

...and my head
workwise, the java assignment took a large step forward this weekend, being that it actually RUNS now. Bam! Not too worried about that one, the honeypot project is still not off the ground but the dissertation now has contents (only its not mine...) its looking a little late to start research for a research project...

The boy's still in hospital, but is off oxygen now and has had a nose thing put in so he can eat.

lord of the microcosm

yeahs! i was blamed for the abject failure of our last group assignment (although not to my face...come on, i wont bite!) i felt pretty hurt with all this shuffling going on behind my back, but at least i now know who my friends are :)

successfully returned home to celebrate me mums birthday for the weekend, still on a downer i barely moved the whole time, pretty much ignored alex and aston had to go to hospital. i really hate myself sometimes - i can be a right miserable bastard

have been considering jacking in uni again - such a cry for attention, considering theres only 7 weeks left. i think the influence of my dropout waster mates is getting to me, why not join them?

gonzo gonzo gone
skipping from self-loathing to the melloncholy, hunter s. thompson, the self-styled 'gonzo' anarchist-cum-journalist ended his life last weekend. cue a ridiculous number of obituaries and features by people who 'met' the man. this dude led a sobering life by all accounts, and rightly goes down as the literature legend of the 20th century. check him out.

well i'm gonna cook some dinner right now, maybe pasta with white sauce, possibly crackers and cheese, certainly cookies and cream ice-cream.

glutton :/

staring into the precipice

what a terrible week! but its only gonna get worse :(
i completely screwed our latest assignment, which reflects the level of effort i suppose (it was group work) but i've got two huge projects to complete within eight weeks...i'm not feeling too confident at the moment.

i did manage to make it into uni this morning tho, maybe this will be the foundation for success over the next two months.

on a lighter note, i think i have found my favourite altered state: three days of sleep deprivation, interspersed with occasional high energy and high concentration activities. so much cheaper than the demon sauce et al!

well, lecture in five, peace!

not another albatross!

well, i'm turning into an insomniac..dont you just hate that? i mean, i love sleep, waking up is sometimes the worst thing ever...i think lack of sleep is making me ill aswell. or a paranoid hyperchondriac.

rant complete.

yes! what could be more enjoyable than mooching back home friday afternoon, kicking back down the local finishing the crossword. nah seriously, i'll have a pen in my back pocket! but that is but the reward for more slavish submission to the doctrine of assessment. dammit, gotta finish this experiment....

Another 2005 Reasons to Buy

Yes! I made it through another year!
How they slip past barely noticed these days, oh woe!

I finally got around to making that first post of the year, but what should i say, hmm?

May aswell chat about xmas first then i'll see what happens.....travelled the land back to my home village to stay with the family. A welcome break from all this 'pressure' man. My little sister just keeps growing, I swear she'll be beating me up soon. sigh. My brothers still hanging in there, it was great to see him so happy. And then theres the mother, damn, just when i thought i had her figured! Well, everyone was pleased to see me and sad to see me go so i must be doing something right. maybe i'm finally mature.

but that was all weeks ago now, and i've had a couple of exams since and am gearing up for some serious assignments. goddammit.

the Dilemma

though not really dickensian, tonight is christmas-getogether-drinking-night for both my class mates and old work colleagues, both in different cities...which one should i choose? easy stuff really..with uni guys i'll buy everyones drinks, with the working guys i'll have them all bought for me!

everyones a winner!

the cycle of Worry and Relief continues

Alright, we scraped our presentation through on monday, have been to busy finishing the work and preparing to be too worried but was so nervous just before! We kind of managed to justify our design and evaluate the project but they wanted even more detail..I knew this all along of course ;)

just glad its out of the way, now i can worry about all the other crap!

weigh anchor
will be going back to the old neighbourhood next weekend to see the family and catch up with old drinking partners, i reckon it'll be a nice break but i should really get some legwork on this project...as long as i have a plan...

mum and sis are in egypt catching the sun...wish i was there! thats a place where worry could never hit you.....

peace

Question Time

oh man...hazel blear mp is a dick.
not only does she have the most annoying expression in uk politics, but she can speak 300 words a minute without a single breath. or a point either....

anyways, back to reality. we handed in our poster, and preparations for mondays presentation have begun. needless to say johnboy will be limited to introducing our names while we explain the technical details..(sorry john)

who would think you're expected to do so much work in the final year?

xxxmas
call me cynical, but i find this time of year seriously testing. all the insincere gestures of goodwill and magnanimous commercialism...too much! next christmas i'll flee to japan or anywhere else that doesn't recognise jebus' birthday...

im only joking, its just thinking back to when i were a nipper, how much i loved father christmas, the lights, snowmen etc. i'm an emotional wreck!

back to 'study' for me...ahem....

Sparrowhawk

mmm...sausages...

more bass extravaganza just now, getting a nice sound...(not!)
minimal effort today really, but its all good - the kitchen's clean..

dont you just love charity shops? i always end up buying sth, i am now the proud owner of a third print tolkien circa 1977. woohoo!

stupid fingers

ok, heres some great advice for all you students out there (uk only im afraid) fill in an 'access to learning fund' form, available from student finance. easy money!

talking of wise investments, i am now the proud owner of my very own two foot bong. its just like those flashing lights you get on zebra crossings. but upside down. and smaller.

p.s.
if you want something stimulating to watch next week, find 'the corporation' at your nearest independent cinema. now run along.

check

Ouch, my head! hurts from so much thinking
serious amount of study is going into this infernal poster that i forgot about the presentation, totally need to prepare properly this time!

not had much spare time for social commentary this week, but i noticed (or rather didn't) the fuss over the hunting bill. did anybody notice the identity scheme? doubt it...

half-life 2 is available, the Greatest game yet apparently.
well, mines on order, but now I need a video card, more memory, new glasses, rent, food....
i guess i just need a job
damn

Detune and away

I really should post more often, especially when i have so much to say :p

Its been a (relatively) stressful week. Too much work done wrong, totally missing the point etc seems to have been the theme...But as sometimes happens salvation is born from despair, and I recall my secret power!

Got the Magic Stick
Ahh Yeah!
Some people may argue the downsides: physical lethargy, short term memory loss, insatiable apetite; but, for me anyway, It suddenly all makes sense. Call it a period of mental clarity, or epiphany even, but i gain the ability of understanding. So now we're back on schedule...assignment deadline: Friday 3rd December...

Discover the bass emotion
Music's a good one.
Back to tonight, and i have been relearning my favourite SOAD tunes on the bass. Dude, it feels so good to kick out those detuned jams and feel my teeth vibrate. maybe i could drop it to A...

enough for now as i prepare for the commercial gimmick-fest that is modern football.

Ours is not to Reason why

A day (two minutes?) of contemplation, obviously highlights the gross folly of conflict...

Introversion aside, I'm going to concentrate on lighter subject matter today!

Humu Humu Nuku Nuku Apua'a
The Showroom in Sheffield are running a great season of documentaries and a festival of Korean films - I love watching these weird international musings! Anyway, I saw Riding Giants, directed by the legendary Stacy Peralta last night. If you have ever wondered what it felt like dropping down a 30ft face or wiping out in an horrific fashion, I highly recommend you check it out!

Dude, wheres my pick?
Arrgghhh!
i spent hours this week trying to sample my riffing skills to no avail...
Perserverence is surely the answer, and it'll be well worth the effort when i polish the first track!

anyways, Peace brah!

The Politiks of Feer

Been kidding myself again, as if I'll ever do anything the way you're meant to...
aahhh, the insignificance of that which seems so important! but still, need to get it done and done....

Contentious issue of the day: Bush or Kerry?
Team America will out, but I think Mr Nader's got the right idea.

What a week!

I was walking down the Moor a few days ago and was approached by a middle-aged God-fearing type. But I didn't just smile and jog past him but stopped and spoke. I'm so glad I did....plant those seeds guys!

Highlights of the week:
Our new(ish) 28" badboy!
Lukes new 1kilowatt rig. Loud. Nuff said.

Lowlights:
Fecking wasps nest. and our plumbing.

in a bit, ash

meet mr CCNA

Avast! me beauties!
We Pomoans have spent this weekend hunting plunder on't high seas...with little success....
I think I spent a little too much time in me' hammock with the ol' Anejo Blanco... what a waste :/

Back to reality for a bit methinks, and some important factual information...

Song hummed in my head most today: the first bit off black sabbath (dun...dinn...DANNN.......)
Most played riff: that bit in creeping death (DIE...duh.duh.daDA...by my hand...duh.duh.daDA...)
What I ate for dinner: stone baked pizza, from mr j sainsbury's
